Trench Knight V.3.7.03.4
Hello Knights!
It's been a long while... in the last 30 days I've been overhauling the mechanics of the game drastically.
The light system has entirely changed
The score system is more integrated into gameplay
Enemy Improvements
FPS Improvements
And finally the addition of several new weapons and new enemies!
So lets dive in shall we?:
First on the list are the weapons. Two weapons have been replaced. Those being the Revolvers. Each now has been replaced with a remodeled version, and their functionality is somewhat changed as well. Some new additions to the family include the T-Gwhere, the Dual and Single Revolver, the Hellgun, and the lever action rifle. Weapons additionally have a new skin system, allowing the player to change what the weapon is outside of a map. these skins are unlocked via secrets within the maps. Skins, or alternate weapons, function entirely different from their original counterparts. For example, the starting weapon of many maps, The P38, has an alternate weapon, The Glock, which has significantly increased RPM and magazine capacity, though at the cost of armor penetration. So, once you beat each map, go back and try and find the few secrets and puzzles to try and unlock these alternate weapons!
- Weapons have alternate "skins" obtained from secret puzzles.
Next is the update to enemies. Not a ton has been changed, but several enemies have had some additional functionality tacked on.
- Any ranged enemy will now check for player LOS.
In addition to these changes, all damage systems have been reworked. Originally, armor was just a flat damage reduction. Now armor is based both on the weapon, and the armor stats. Lets take the P38 and the Anti-tank gun, the T-Gwhere, as examples. before this update, if you dealt 100 damage, or 10 damage, all of that damage would be cut by a %. and most armor reduced damage by 80%. So this meant, to deal any "armor penetrating" damage, you'd have to have ridiculous damage, like 10,000. Now how armor damage is calculated is by taking the weapons armor reduction value and multiplying it by the weapon damage and the armor multiplier bonus. The P38 for example, has a 0.4 armor reduction value, meaning if it hit's basic armor, it will be dealing 20 * 0.4 * 1.0 damage: 8 damage.
- Changed Armor damage calculation from static values to dynamic per weapon values
Following the enemies the light system was up next for an update. after quickly touching up on some faulty code, I have completely reworked how the lantern used to work. The system has now been changed to a more traditional horror system, using a flashlight, your character will be able to light up environments and enemies, though only for a short duration. To compensate with the reduced light provided, I will be, and have been, improving the lighting of maps.
- Updated lighting system
- Removed old "lantern" light system
- Added Flashlight and Bravery reduction.
Score was another thing that seemed tacked on for "progression" due to the change in map progression, I had nearly removed all necessity for it. So instead of removing it entirely, I have integrated it further into gameplay. The better you play, the faster your skills, flashlight, and health will regenerate. Health kits will also provide higher amounts of health based on your score. (This system is going to be tweaked over the next coming patches based on feedback).
- Score Multiplier improves Dash and Flashlight cooldown.
- Score Multiplier adds additional health recovered from Health Kits.
On top of all of this, there have been many new foes added to the roster.
- Added New Boss: "Helldiver"
- Added New Boss: "(Corrupt) Knight Lord of (the Church of) Eiben"
- Added New Ranged Enemy: "Floating Skull"
- Added New Melee Enemy: "Spider Spirit"
- Updated Armored Enemy Model: "Heavily Armored Chainsaw Warrior"
- Updated Doctor Enemy Model: "Infested Doctor"
This update will be dropping within the next couple of weeks, and following that will be the creation of Act 2, introducing entirely new environments (Hope yall like snowy mountains)
If you want more consistent updates, join the discord server where you'll be updated whenever I update / change the game!
Thank you for your time, and have a fantastic day!
